Finding a new job can be a major life decision, and interviewing can be a nerve-wracking experience, but it should not be. At Bivar, we strive to deliver a positive candidate experience from the first phone call—and that starts with preparation and the right expectations. To help with this, we have compiled this guide to tell you what to expect, how to prepare, and tips for your conversations with our team. While not everyone will receive offers, we hope candidates walk away with new connections, learnings, and possibilities for future roles.

OUR TYPICAL INTERVIEW PROCESS

We recognize the importance of speed and transparency in the interview process. Our aim in hiring future employee owners is to create a partnership that is mutually beneficial for both the candidate and the company. This is done by creating a shared understanding of the culture at Bivar, the current opportunity, and the potential for career growth.

Step 1: Your application

We look for well-formatted, succinct resumes, and anything else you can share to help us understand projects you’ve worked on and results you’ve delivered. Cover letters are not required but are encouraged as an opportunity for you to highlight past achievements and future potential.

Step 2: Phone/video screen (30-45 minutes)

Screening calls are an opportunity for us to learn more about each other. It is a chance for you to explain your experiences, work styles, and career ambitions, and we will be able to provide an overview of the culture, team structure, and logistics of working at Bivar. The screening call is your chance to clear up any initial questions. Bring thoughtful questions about the company and the role, and this conversation to set yourself up well for the rest of your interviews.

Step 3: Phone/video interview with the hiring manager (45-60 minutes)

Here are some preparation tips for your interviews with Bivar:
• Research Bivar and get familiar with our product families.
• Be ready to discuss how your skills match those listed in the job description, and be prepared to give examples of how you have demonstrated them in the past.
• Study your own resume and prepare detailed examples that explain how you have handled responsibilities and achieved results in your past experiences. This can be even more impactful if you have metrics to share.
• Practice your answers to common interview questions, including your own background, why you want to work at Bivar, and your career aspirations for the next five years. Have a clear idea of what you want to say and provide authentic answers that highlight your fit for the role.
• Once you know who will be interviewing you, do some online research, and draft specific questions for each person. We encourage interviewers to set aside plenty of time for your questions, so take time to create a thoughtful list. Probing questions will show your understanding of the business and will give you insight into the company strategy and long-term vision.
• Remember the importance of personal touches, such as sharing and remembering small details from a conversation, leaning forward, and making eye contact. By being yourself and building connections with your interviewers, you will not only show your own personality but get to know us better as well.
• Remember to follow-up with a thank you note. While this is not required, it is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of the role requirements and highlighting the potential that you would bring to the team.

Step 4: Possible additional phone/video or face-to-face interviews with other team members (30 minutes each)

Step 5: In-person interviews (depending on role applied)
